LBK Democratic Club Board Member Wins Tony Award

Congratulations to Longboat Key Democratic Club Board member Tom Kirdahy, lead producer of The Inheritance. This Broadway production won the 2021 Tony Awards for Best Play, Best Performance by a Leading Actor, Best Performance by a Featured Actress, and Best Direction of a Play.

Accepting the award for Best Play, Tom graciously dedicated the prize to the lives lost to AIDS and COVID-19. His husband, the playwright Terrence McNally, was one of the first prominent artists to die during the COVID-19 pandemic. No stranger to the Tony Awards, Tom has also won the 2019 Tony Award for Best Musical for HADESTOWN and was named Commercial Producer of the Year in 2019. Before his death in March 2020, Kirdahy's husband Terrence McNally received a record-breaking five Tony Awards, including one in 2019 for Lifetime Achievement.

The Longboat Key Democratic Club is honored to include Tom among our ranks.

And, look who else congratulated Tom on The Inheritance!
