It is alarming to see the current COVID-19 transmission rate where I live in Dallas County [Iowa] is “substantial.”
It is even more disturbing that Gov. Kim Reynolds chooses to ignore the data and recent surge in cases and criticizes guidance (not a mandate) by health experts to wear masks indoors in public places, when 50% of Iowans are still not fully vaccinated.
Instead she prohibits requiring masks in schools, where children are largely not vaccinated. The current problems are the result of not following the advice of health experts (including those in Iowa) and of being discouraged or restricted by politicians from taking reasonable precaution. Please follow the recommendations of health experts regarding wearing masks and getting vaccinated for your own welfare and to help our community recover faster and better.
