Recommendations from the Board of the LBK Democratic Club the 2026 General Election

Many of you have asked for our recommendations for the upcoming election. It is completely understandable—the ballot is long, complex, and includes non-partisan races and critical state amendments.

Here are links to the Sarasota and Manatee County Democratic Party recommendations.

Above all, our primary message is simple: PLEASE VOTE.  We need to surge the vote.

We have an outstanding slate of candidates who share our values, starting at the top of the ticket with Angie Nixon for U.S. Senate, and David Jolly and Gwen Graham for Governor and Lieutenant Governor, respectively

Partisan Races

Vote for ALL Democratic candidates on your ballot.

Non-Partisan Races

Sarasota County:

  • School Board, District 1: Jimmy Glover

  •  Sarasota City Commissioners-at-Large: Jen Ahern-Koch and Flo Entler

  •

Manatee County:

  • School Board, District 2: Sharon Jefferson

  • School Board, District 5: Jonathan Mullis

Judicial Candidates:

  • Vote NO on retaining all judges

Statewide Constitutional Amendments:

  • Vote NO on all three statewide Constitutional Amendments.

If you go to this page, you can read our analysis and conclusion on each of these.

Sarasota County Referenda:

  • Vote YES on both.

Important Reminder:

The ballot is long.

Please be patient and be sure to turn your ballot over—the Constitutional Amendments and Sarasota County Referenda appear on the back of many ballots, and your vote on these measures is critical.

We have a real opportunity to drive meaningful change in our state and country, but it only happens when every voice is heard.

Thank you for making your vote count!
