Roles in Two Mission-Critical Club Operations
In Event Programming
Event Programming is a central function within our organization that develops, produces and stages our annual November to April Monthly Luncheon Series and our annual Summer-Fall Zoom series.
Currently staffed with one Program Producer, we want to add a second as we expand the scope of our offerings.
Program Producer
We are looking for a person who is familiar with newsmakers, politicians and analysts who would be good speakers for the Longboat Key Democratic Club Speaker Series.
As noted above, we produce eleven (11) programs per year - six (6) live in-person events in Sarasota and five (5) virtual events on Zoom in the Summer-Fall months.
The Program Producer works with VP of Programming, another Program Producer and our Programming Committee to generate ideas and contacts.
Responsibilities:

Help generate ideas for speakers for our luncheons

Research speaker candidates, local, regional and national

Look at them on YouTube and other media to make sure they are good speakers

Research major publishers to find out who has a current author that would interest our audience

Contact publishers to determine availability and willingness of speakers

Contact institutions playing important role in civic dialogue to determine if they have suitable speakers; i.e. Brennan Center for Justice, Brookings Institution etc.

Negotiate with speaker (assuming no payment of fee).

Provide publicity materials to the club’s Marketing & Communications department

Make travel and accommodation arrangements for speakers
Prior experience booking speakers for radio, TV or other venues would be a major plus in this role.
Time requirement/week = 6 hours with additional time during the May–October planning season.
Administrative Support
We are looking for a person to help keep the club running smoothly.

Create name tags for monthly luncheons.

Greet and check in guests.

Assist with events, phone calls, speaker coordination, and sponsor activities.
Time requirement/week = 4-5 hours
In Marketing, Communications & Technology
The Marketing, Communications & Technology function serves as the Club's growth engine, influence engine, and digital infrastructure.
Its mission is to attract, engage, inform, and mobilize members, supporters, donors, volunteers, and voters while ensuring the Club's programs, content, and operations are delivered professionally, efficiently, and at scale.
As the Club grows, additional skilled volunteers will be recruited to create a team capable of supporting an expanding portfolio of events, content, communications, fundraising, membership growth, and community engagement activities.
Content Manager
We need a person who brings the Club's story to life and thereby keep members, supporters, and the public informed and engaged. We have given this role a working title: Content Manager.
The Content Manager collects inputs from other team members and assembles emails, newsletters, web page inputs and social media inputs.
The Content Manager also sends emails and newsletters using Neon One, the organization's central operating system.
Time requirement/week = 6 hours
Creatives Manager
We need a person who turns the Club's ideas, events, and issues into engaging content that people want to read, watch and share. We have given this role a working title: Creatives Manager.
The Creatives Manager (1) provides designs and graphics for emails, newsletters, fundraising brochures, web pages, social media posts and events; and (2) edits video footage from in-person and Zoom event for posting on Vimeo (full length) and as shorts on the website, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok (relevant for showcasing the new generation of Democratic leaders) and YouTube.
Time requirement/week = 5 hours
Digital Comms Manager
We need a person who keeps the Club's online presence organized, up to date, and working smoothly. We have given this role a working title: Digital Comms Manager.
The Digital Platforms Manager manages our website and publishes approved content as provided by other team members. In addition, the role includes managing Zoom events, social media and other digital communications channels
Time requirement/week = 5 hours
Operations Manager
We need a person who ensures that the Club runs smarter and grows faster by managing Neon One as the organization's central operating system. We have given this role a working title: Operations Manager.
The Operations Manager oversees membership, events, sponsorships, donations, volunteer records, and reporting, ensuring that leaders have the information they need to make good decisions.
Time requirement/week = 4 hours
