José Javier Rodríguez won his primary to become the Democratic nominee for Attorney General of Florida in the November 3rd. general election.  Campaign website.

He is facing the incumbent Republican James Uthmeier.

José Javier Rodríguez is a Florida attorney, former state legislator and the 2026 Democratic nominee for Florida Attorney General.

 

He served eight years in the Florida Legislature—four in the House and four in the Senate—championing consumer protection, government accountability and working families.

 

Raised in Miami, Rodríguez earned his B.A. from Brown University and J.D. from Harvard Law School and served in the Peace Corps in Senegal.

 

He later represented low-income workers and immigrants before serving in the Biden administration as U.S. Assistant Secretary of Labor.

 

His career has focused on protecting consumers and workers, fighting corruption and ensuring accountability.
